Steel Mill Industry

Fusion Babbitting Company works closely with many different engineering industries, the steel mill industry being a huge client! Replacing machinery can be costly not only with financial resources, but also in time when you have to shut down production. More often than not, it is faster and easier to repair old machines rather than replacing them, but what happens when the original company goes out of business? This happened with a steel mill that we serve. They needed a replacement bearing for a roll grinder and couldn’t get in contact with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (also referred to as OEM). That’s when they reached out to us at Fusion Babbitting Co.! They sent us the broken bearing and our team was able to use a technique called reverse engineering to recreate the bearing. After sending a final proof to the company our engineers got to work to reproduce the bearing to the exact OEM specifications! This company now knows they can always count on Fusion Babbitting!

Machines breaking down can’t be planned, but they can be expected. That’s why one of our steel mill clients planned ahead to get prepared! They were able to schedule a small break in production to make time to allow our team at Fusion Babbitting to come out on location and reverse engineer a new bearing before the old one ever even died!

Cooling Fan Blades

Fusion Babbitting not only does reverse engineering on old parts, we can also design and engineer new parts! When our team was on location, one of our customers told us they were having difficulties finding someone to manufacture new cooling fan blades for a large critical fan. Our team was able to create new blades by using a sample provided by the client to invest-cast a new blank and machine a new blade in just four weeks. The client had been searching for 10 months before they found us!

The best part of working directly with Fusion is the ability to customize parts to your needs. We had a client with a 15″ ID X 24″ large 3 piece segmented bearing with 120 degree segments, but they needed a 2 piece bearing assembly with 180 degree halves. After submitting a drawing to the client and getting the approval to start production, our team was able to manufacture the custom part! Another happy customer in our portfolio!

Motor Repair Facility

One of our motor repair clients had a set of GE bearings and the utility facility was experiencing an unscheduled outage resulting in costly downtime. Fusion was able to not only rebabbit and remachine the bearings, but we also were able to expedite production and delivery getting the client the bearings in just 48 hours.
